Joseph C. Tossey


Joseph C. Tossey, 84 of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in the Summerville at Fox Run.

He was born on June 15, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Joseph E. and Buelah F. (Smith) Tossey.

He served our country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War and retired from the Air National Guard with twenty years of military service. He later retired from International Truck after over thirty-six years of employment.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: Judy and Gary Fansler of Enon, Ellen Teets of Alabama, and Kelley and Mike Maiville of Michigan; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law: Tom Blakey of Florida, and Bob and Brenda Blakey of North Carolina; one brother, Edward A. Tossey of Springfield, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friend, Teddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Orpha M. Tossey in 1991, step-son Billy Blakey, and brother James F. Tossey.

Private graveside services at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY.
