Daniel Blair Shay


Daniel Blair Shay, 85, of Springfield, OH died at 7:00 p.m. Saturday January 19, 2008 in his residence.

He was born May 22, 1922 in Springfield, OH to Daniel I. and Nellie (Cox) Shay.

Dan retired after approximately 45 years as the paymaster with the Robbins and Myers Company. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, longtime member of the Springfield YMCA and was a WW II Navy Veteran, served with Naval Intelligence, and attained the rank of Specialist First Class.

He is survived by a sister and brother in law, Pauline and John Fogarty; sister in law, Josephine Shay of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Robert D. (Carolyn) Shay, Chris (Harold) Harris, Mary (Page) McGirr, Ann Oroszi, John (Linda) Fogarty, Dan (Kathy) Fogarty, Tim (Linda) Fogarty, Tom (Susan) Fogarty, Dennis Fogarty, Michael Fogarty, Brian (Carolyn) Fogarty, Patrick Fogarty and fiancee, Lori Whitt and Phillip (Becky) Fogarty; numerous great nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert W. and Clarence T. Shay and a niece, Marilyn (Shay) Foulke.

Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Ed Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Dan's name may be made to the Springfield YMCA.
