Charles Spoon


Charles Spoon, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2007 in the Villa of Springfield. He was born on January 22, 1924 in Bellaire, Ohio the son of Charles Edward and Pearl (Allen) Spoon. Mr. Spoon served our country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from Muskingum College with a Bachelors Degree and completed his education at Wittenberg University with a Masters in Education. He was also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Charles was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and taught in the Enon School District where he was a Principal for twenty-two years retiring in 1979. After retiring from the school district he went to work at Credit Life for three years.

Charles is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Muriel (Williams) Spoon of Springfield, four sons and daughters-in-law: David and Suzanne Spoon of Phoenix, Arizona; Gary and Karen Spoon of Mechanicsburg; Tim and Debbie Spoon of Springfield; and John and Cindy Spoon of Southlake, Texas; two sisters: Jean Good of New Concord, Ohio, and Helen Reed of Morristown, Ohio; two brothers: Roy Higgins of Provo, Utah; and Paul Higgins of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren: Gary, Leslie, Amanda, John, Timmy, Katie, and Jason; ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 1:00pm in the Christ Episcopal Church with The Reverend Charlotte Collins Reed officiating.
