Annabelle Smith


Annabelle "Lit" Norris-Smith, 96 of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2008 with her loving family by her side.She was born May 5, 1912 in Chattanooga, Tennessee the daughter of Eddie Johnson and Viola Johnson-Knox.

She was employed by Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Wittenberg University where she retired after many years of dedicated service. She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board. Annabelle was previously a member of New North Street A.M.E. Church in Springfield, Ohio and Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church in Cleveland, Ohio where she served on the Stewardess Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband; Marshall J. Norris and second husband; Sidney Smith, sisters; Pauline Hood and Edna Watkins.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter; Marsha "Susie" Norris, nephews; William Hood, Stanton, Ford and John "Jack" Ford, nieces; Marva Hood and Linda Higgenbotham, Special friends; the men of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Wittenberg University and the staff of Eaglewood Care Center.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home and form 5-7 p.m. in St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow in the church at 7 p.m. Burial will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery.
