Patricia June Preston


Patricia June Preston, 69, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer. Patty was born on November 4, 1948 in Huntington, WV to the late Bob and Eula (Arrowood) Damron.

She graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, WV in 1966. She married Larry Preston on April 29, 1967 and moved to Ohio.

She graduated from Clark State’s Nursing program in 1983 and worked as an RN in many capacities, mostly rehab and diabetic nursing. Patricia was a life-long servant to the Lord and member of the United Baptist family, belonging to Bethel United Baptist Church in Genoa, WV, Miami Valley United Baptist Church in Yellow Springs, OH and, lastly, Old Friendship Untied Baptist Church in Paintsville, KY. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandkids.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Eula Damron; her husband of nearly 50 years, Larry Preston; her mother-in-law, Leone Preston; a sister-in-law, Brenda Preston; two brothers-in-law, Billy Preston and Raymond Walters; a nephew, Gary Lee Preston Jr; and very special grandparents, Glen and Clora Arrowood.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Ann (Greg) Boyer of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sheri Renae (Walter) Adkins of Enon, Ohio, Teresa Lynn (Sinclair) Hay of Beavercreek, OH; two sisters, Donna Walters of Williamsport, KY and Jane (Terry) Meadows of Genoa, WV; a brother, Jeff (Carolyn) Damron of Wayne, WV; six grandchildren, Cassidy (Brandon) Apple and Dawn Boyer of Kettering, OH, Samuel and Emily Adkins of Enon, OH, Connor and Kaitlyn Hay of Beavercreek, OH; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends who miss her dearly.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Miami Valley United Baptist Church, 660 W. Hyde Road, Yellow Springs, OH 45387, with Elders Flem Arrowood, Glenn Arrowood and Glen Pennix officiating. There will be a viewing an hour prior to the service at the church that day.
