Joe T Patton


Joe T Patton, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 17, 1922 in Darke County, Ohio the son of Dwight and Marie (Toman) Patton.

He served our country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and was extremely happy and proud to attend the Honor Flight in June of this past year. He retired from Lazarus (Rikes) after forty-three years and was a member of the High Street Nazarene Church. Joe enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, and traveling all over the United States and beyond.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John T. and Debbie Patton of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Bob Rich of New Paris, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sandy Patton of Waynesville, Ohio; step-daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Hartley of Springfield; eleven grandchildren and their spouses: Jim and Stacy Patton, Belinda and Steve Stickle, Debbie and Bill Smith, Tracee Patton, Tom and Barb Willems, Missy and Rob Briones, Pam and Chad Tamplin, Stephanie and Matt Grogg, Sheryl and Frank Geiszl, Jeff and Erin Patton, and John Patton Jr.; twenty-five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ruth, second wife, Jeanne, one son Joe Patton, and two sisters, Jeanne and Joyce, and one great grandson, Ryan.

Joe's family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Forest Glen Health Campus where Joe made his home for the past eighteen months. You loved him like family and we appreciate you very much. We also thank the nursing staff at the Springfield Regional Medical Center - East High St. Campus, floor two south for their excellent care for Dad during his last days.

A celebration of his life with military honors will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service time.

Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
