Richard A. "Dick" Moore


Richard A. "Dick" Moore, 78, of Springfield passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 in the Mercy Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born December 21, 1928 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Arnold and Stella (Downey) Moore.

Dick was a member of the Rockway Lutheran Church and retired from SPECO in June of 1990. "Moose" was also a member of the Retired Deputies Assoc. He served several years as a deputy sheriff under Art Shuman and Elwood Thackery.

Survivors include his Fiance, Frieda George of Springfield; three daughters and son-in-law, Teresa Higbee, Rhonda Atkins and Scott Dearth all of Springfield and Michelle (Tom) Scarpelli of Beavercreek; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick (Mary Lou) Moore of Springfield; one sister, Janis Moore of Springfield; two sisters-in-law, Jean Moore of St. Louis and Betty Moore of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Cheri Sanders, Rick (Marisa) Moore, Matt (Kate) Moore, Ben (Jocelyn) Moore, Ashley Moore, Casey Atkins and Amy Moore; eight great grandchildren, Hannah, Rebekah, Leah, Colter, Emma, Aubree, MaryEllen, Alanna; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 44 years, Betty J. Moore; two brothers, Bill and Jim Moore and grandson, Ed Sanders.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 2-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Wendell Hakala officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
