Raymond F. Mercer


Raymond F. (Casey-Shakey) Mercer, 77, of Springfield, died Tuesday October 2, 2007 in Villa Springfield.

He was born March 11, 1930 in Jackson, Ohio, the son of Ernest J. and Mary E. (Dameron) Mercer.

He served his country with the United States Army. Raymond retired from the Springfield News and Sun. He volunteered for many years at Elderly United.

Survivors include his wife Ruby J. (Ireland) Mercer; two sons Raymond J. (Heidi) Mercer of South Charleston and Donald E. Mercer of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda R. and Robin Kuhn of Springfield; step-daughter, Stephanie J. Fischer of Springfield; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Donna Mercer of Canal Winchester, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Gerald Byus; two brothers, Paul and Floyd "Nolan" Mercer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at 10 a.m. Friday in LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
