Mary C. Merriman


Mary C. Merriman, 81, of Springfield, died peacefully, surrounded by her family Saturday evening, November 3, 2007 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.

She was born in Springfield on September 7, 1926 the daughter of William and Ethel (Smouse) Cooper. Mary retired from Robbins & Myers in 1983.

She attended The Salvation Army and was a member of the Robbins & Myers Social Club.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, William W. Merriman of Hamilton, Ohio and Larry and Nora Merriman of Hillsboro, Ohio; six grandchildren, Toni, Jeremy, Parish, and Aaron Merriman, Tammy Williams, and Charles Knowles Jr.; nine great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, John Merriman; two sisters, Frances Hiltibran and Cora Foster; a brother, Horace Cooper; and a grandson, Brandon Age Merriman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Major James Gingrich officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
