Herman William Mann


Herman William Mann 78, of Springfield died Sunday, January 27, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center, High St Campus.

He was born in Fulton County, Ohio on June 30, 1929, the son of Willard Taylor and Sylvia Elizabeth (Martin) Mann.

Herman was the founder and owner of H W Mann & Sons Hauling Service for 55 years, he also had 21 years of service in the press room at International Harvester. He was the former owner of HW Tire Service. He enjoyed fishing, especially on Lake Erie, boating, and going on several missionary work camps to El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Chile. Herman was a member of Clifton Ave Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Melvin and George E. Mann; grandsons Jason E. Hess & Joey Dooley; brother in law Lowell E. Davis; brother in law and sister in law Doc & Garnet Crew; brother in law George Brewer; and mother and father in law Frank & Margaret Brewer.

His survivors include his wife of 58 years Katherine M. (Brewer) Mann, whom he married September 4, 1950; one daughter Marcella L. Maier of Fort Wayne, IN; four sons Phillip T. & Shirley Mann of South Vienna, Charles W. & Cheryl Mann of Mechanicsburg, Willard T. & Kim Mann of South Charleston, and Lewis E. & Sherry Mann of Springfield; one sister Deloris Davis of South Vienna; two brothers Floyd L. & Nora Mann of South Vienna and Orville W. Mann of Barefoot Bay, FL; eleven grandchildren Paul & Karie Mann, Terri & Steve Bruce, Angela Gall, Jennifer Dooley, Charles Mann, Chris A & Angie Mann, Kelly M. Mann, Michael T. & Jessica Mann, Scott & Amy Mann, Bryan Mann, Craig & Amanda Mann; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister in law Ruth Anway of Springfield; sister in law and brother in law Jim & Bev Estep of Springfield.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 4-8PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services will be Friday at 10:00AM in the memorial home with Pastor Sam Wollum officiating. Burial to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are requested to the Clifton Ave Church of God.

We would like to thank all his home care aides and nurses from Community Home Health Care that took care of him.
