Bruce F. MacLean, M.D.


Bruce F. MacLean, M.D., 72, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in his residence.

He was born on May 21, 1935 in Flint, Michigan the son of Jack F. and Edene (Ritter) MacLean.

Bruce was a member of the Junior Baseball Hall of Fame in Michigan. He received a baseball scholarship at the University of Michigan and graduated in Pre-Medicine. He completed his Doctorate at the University of Cincinnati Medical School and then served our country in the United States Navy as a ship's Doctor during the Vietnam War. Dr. MacLean was a partner with Springfield Radiologists, Inc.

He is survived by his son and son's partner, Doug MacLean and Terry McNicholas of Chicago, two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann-Beth and Roger Ward and Katie MacLean, two granddaughters, Rachel and Emma Ward, his former wife, Elizabeth Mae MacLean, all of Springfield, one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Zena MacLean of Tampa, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Charlie Stultz.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
