William L. "Bill&quto; Hupp, Sr.


William L. "Bill" Hupp, Sr., age 80 passed away at the residence Monday, December 17, 2007.

He was born in Wheeling, WV. August 17, 1927 to the late Wilson and Lucille (Lewis)Hupp.

He graduated from Warwood High School and received a Bachelors degree at the West Liberty State College. He was a United States veteran of the Navy. Bill's teaching and coaching career began at the Buckingham High School, he coached the state tourney basketball team in 1955, at the Salem Local High School he taught and coached the state basketball champs in 1960. He continued his career at the Princeton and Fairfield High Schools. Bill was also associated with the Springfield YMCA and the Clark County Children's Home. In 1965 Bill was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Coaches hall of fame. He was a member of the South Charleston Community Club, Masonic lodge, Eagles #397, the American legion #176 and the First Presbyterian Church in South Charleston. Bill held a black belt in judo and was also an accomplished artist.

He is preceded in death by his brother Donley B. Hupp.

Bill is survived by his wife, of 28 years Susan Sheldon Hupp, of South Charleston, son William Lewis Hupp Jr. of Hamilton, daughters Kathryn Lynn and Bonnie Lynn Hupp of South Charleston, brother Garrison Hupp of Flyod,VA., three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Friday, December 21, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church 15 N. Chillicothe St., South Charleston. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Clark County Children's Home 525 East Home Rd. Springfield, OH. 45503 in Bill's name.
