Stephen Donald Hopper

Stephen Donald Hopper, 61, passed away July 16, 2007 in his residence.

He was born January 13, 1946 in Springfield, the son of Raymond Donald and Katherine Jean (Lewis) Hopper.

Steve will be remembered by those who loved him the most as being a very outgoing person, with an unmatched sense of humor. Mr. Hopper frequently went out of his way to help others and will be revered for the generosity he showed with his skill, kindness and time.

Stephen enjoyed working on cars and riding on anything that had wheels and went fast. He especially enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Mr. Hopper thoroughly loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Stephen was raised on a farm and proudly served his country in the US Army. He later retired from Navistar after many years of hard work as a Mechanic.

Stephen leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 25 years Tena Jane (Canter) Hopper, their children John (Christy) Hopper, Cathy (Doug) King, Dana O'Harold, Stephanie (Jeremy) Davis; grandchildren Nicole, Amanda, Molly, Jacob, Madison, Breana, Noah, and Elaina; siblings Daniel, David, Mary, Kathy, and Victor; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends; and a very special companion Mingo.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his faithful companion Gunner.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in THE JONES KENNEY ZECHMAN Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm Wednesday.

The funeral ceremony will be held at 2pm Thursday in the funeral home. Dave Augustus will officiate. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
