Lyda M. (Carter) Huey


Lyda M. (Carter) Huey 69 of Springfield passed away on Thursday March 6, 2008 in her home.

She was born on December 14, 1938 In Springfield, Ohio the daughter of Sampson Carter Sr. and Edna Gertrude (Smith) Carter.

Lyda married Roger Huey on November 18, 1955 and they were married 41 years until his passing in Oct 1996. Lyda was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt. She devoted her entire life to caring for and loving her family. Lyda was a member of the Springfield Freewill Baptist Church, 1825 Sunset Ave, where she had many friends. She was very proud of her Baptism on June 11, 2006 by Rev. Charlie Crider.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one daughter Judy; seven brothers Sampson, Homer, David, Arthur, Tom, Floyd, Donald; Seven sisters May Hayes, Edna Jenkins, Mary Cottrell, Cora Thompson, Kate Sherrick, Opal Angle, Arlena Carter.

Survivors include; one son, Roger (Melody) Huey of Springfield, two daughters, Barbara Huey of Springfield and Rhonda (John) Parks of Fort Thomas, Kentucky ; ten grandchildren, Roger, Emily, Jarrett and Jacob Huey; Reynaldo, Victor, Elainey and Jesse Gonzalez; Justin and Taylor Parks; two dear sisters Stella Lyons and Hilda (Jim) Gamble; several nieces, nephews and cousins; also, one very special family pet Gizmo.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Monday from 5-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME and one hour prior to services in church. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Springfield Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Crider officiating. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Freewill Baptist Church or to the family.
