Linda Herring


Linda E. Herring, 59, of Springfield. Beloved daughter, sister, mother, wife and grandmother passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 5:15 p.m. at Community Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Linda was born on December 2, 1947 , and a life long resident of Springfield. She dedicated many years to caring for others through United Elderly and as a private caregiver. She was employed for 25 years by Dr. Noshir and Sandy Deboo (Orthopedics Associates of Springfield).

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Robert Smith in 1981 and a sister, Julie Smith in 2006.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 31 years, Charlie; sons, Bryan (Jackie), Lee (Tammy) and Chad Harris; mother and step father, Joan and Jim Knisley; sisters, Diane (Ernie) Smithhart of Deerpark, TX, Vicky Lewis of Galveston, Texas and Misty (Andy) Dunham and April Hamner of Springfield; brother, Mike Smith of Deerpark, Texas and John Smith of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer, Chase, Paige, Leah and Bryan Harris, Jr.; special niece, Amy West of Louisa, KY; aunt and uncle, Nancy and Dean Boring; cousin, Donna Jean Canterberry; special friend, William Gorden, as well as her beloved pets, Abby, Daisy, Winnie, Taz and Lucy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Linda was a kind, generous, compassionate, strong, and all around beautiful person who touched the loves of all who knew her. Her memory will forever live in our hearts. The family wishes to express our gratitude to the Community Hospital nursing staff on 4SE (Ruth Brouhard Wing); Rachele Barlow (E.R. Nurse); Lynne Blumenschein (Patient Services) and Linda Blosser (Hospice Nurse).

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. at JONES KENNEY ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Burial will following Glen Haven Cemetery.
