Reverend Donald C. Huebner


Reverend Donald C. Huebner, 80, passed away October 24, 2008 in his home at the Transfiguration Center, Melchizedek Village in West Milton, OH.

Reverend Huebner was born in Springfield, OH on July 4, 1928 to Paul W. and Florence (McNally) Huebner. Father Huebner graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1945 and attended St. Gregory Seminary in Cincinnati from 1946-47 and St. Mary Seminary in Norwood from 1948 to 1954. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest on May 29, 1954.

In his 50 years as a priest, he ministered in several parishes and high schools in the Archdiocese including Cincinnati, Kettering, Dayton and West Milton. He returned to Springfield in July 1983 as Pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church until his retirement from active ministry in July 2001. Since that time he has been a volunteer chaplain for the Sisters of the Precious Blood at Salem Heights in Dayton, OH.

Reverend Huebner was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul Joseph and a sister, Rosemary Koehler.

He is survived by his brother in law, John Koehler, his 7 nieces and nephews and their families, Paula and Jim Odell, Kevin and Connie Koehler, D. Keith and Kelley Koehler, Kurt and Cathy Koehler, Kara and Chad Yancey, Kyle and Kathrin Koehler, Kris and Tricia Koehler and the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Salem Heights.

A Reception of the Body will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bernard Catholic Church followed by a public visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Cemetery or Catholic Central High School Foundation. The Conroy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
