James Alan Davey


James Alan Davey, 73, of Springfield, passed away at 10:10 AM Thursday, September 18, 2008 in his home. He was born February 28, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Donald and Anna Bell (Lyons) Davey.

Jim was a member of the Clark Masonic Lodge and had been associated with Junior Achievement as an advisor and sponsor. He served on the Civil Service Commission and had worked with the Youth For Understanding program. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Jim was the owner of the Jim Davey Insurance Agency and had worked in the insurance business for 45 years. Following his retirement form the insurance business, he worked for ATA Airlines in Dayton for 5 years. Jim was a very well known and well loved businessman in the community.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 49 years Nancy (Moore) Davey, one son and daughter in law; Jad Alan and Diane Davey of Centerville, two grand children; Leah and Logan, sister in law and brother in law; Alice and Peter Petry Springfield, step sister Kathy Floyd, Springfield, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of loving and caring friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two bothers; Donald and Richard.

Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home with Rev. John Wilson and Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
