Gloria L. Dickerson


Gloria L. Dickerson, 84, of London, Ohio and formerly of Springfield, Ohio died Thursday evening, September 18, 2008 in Arbors of London.

She was born in Bay View Heights, Minnesota on January 16, 1924 the daughter of John L. and Ragna (Larson) Larsen.

Gloria was a U.S. Army WII veteran. She attended Capital School of Nursing, Washington, D.C. and was a graduate of Clark Technical College, Springfield. She retired from Community Hospital and later worked as a hospice nurse for several years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church for over 64 years, Lutheran Church Women's Conference (Mad River), and was Past Matron of Neal Chapter 522 Order of the Eastern Star.

Gloria is survived by two children, Janice (Richard) Beeson of Bradford, Ohio and Rev. Dale L. Dickerson of London; a sister, Beverly Scully of Adrian, Michigan; grandchildren, Lt. Commander Chris (Christy) Dickerson of Silverdale, Washington, Noelle (Ernie) Persic of Preston, Ohio, Heidi Dickerson of Scio, Ohio, Julie (Lorenzo) Rogers of Round Rock, Texas, Capt. Travis (Amy) Beeson of New Bern, North Carolina, and Mary Dickerson of Herkimer, New York; ten great grandchildren, Christin, Christian and Christopher Dickerson, Bret and James Abel, Marie and Natalie Rogers, and Joshua, Katelyn and David Beeson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Stanley B. Dickerson, son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Stanley John and Diane Dickerson; and a sister, May Stoll.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Eastern Star services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in First Lutheran Church with Pastor James Christian officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, London.
