Lucille May Brubaker


Lucille May Brubaker, 90, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Wednesday June 25, 2008 in Springfield, Ohio.

She was born October 6, 1917 in Brookville, Ohio to the late Russell S. and Ruth E.(Beery) Landis.

Lucille was an elementary teacher for over 25 years. She retired from the Tecumseh School District in 1981. She was a graduate of Manchester College with a two year normal degree.

Lucille was a published poet and an artist who flourished in special paper cutting designs. She was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, a member of New Carlisle Sertoma for ten years, secretary of the Clark County Author's Guild, and dean of Southwest Ohio Church of the Brethren Women's Camp. Lucille was an active member of the Senior Citizens Association of New Carlisle where she was an aspiring "card shark."

Lucille is preceded in death by parents, husband, Ellis D. Brubaker whom she married June 8, 1940, a daughter, Anita K. Swartzbaugh, a sister, Catherine Stewart, and a brother, Russell S. Landis, Jr., and a step grandson, Tony Donohoe.

She is survived by her three children: Stephen and Susan Brubaker of Bear, Delaware; B.J. and Tim Blocker of Redstone, Colorado; and Lora J. and Carlos Donohoe of Enon; grandchildren: Anita's six children: Michael and Sherry Swartzbaugh, Jeffrey Swartzbaugh, Tom and Amy Swartzbaugh, David and Maria Swartzbaugh, Robert and Laura Swartzbaugh, Pam and Ambers Brown; Stephen's three children: Monica Bovankovich, Luke Brubaker and Erin Cooper, Elizabeth Brubaker; B.J.'s child, Zachary Blocker and stepson, Boone Blocker; Lora's four stepchildren: Debra and Bob Hiney, David and Penny Estes, Cathy Donohoe, Thomas "Chico" Donohoe; great grandchildren: Michael's two children: Lauren and Andrew Beaven, Kara Swartzbaugh; Tom's two children: Timmy and Jamie Swartzbaugh; Pam's two children: Ethan and Jordan Brown; David's three children: Ryan, Kyle, and Skyler Swartzbaugh; Monica's four children: Asher, Jordan, Nathan and Abbie Bovankovich; Cathy's two children: Ryan and Brittany Kibler; Chico's son: Victor Snyder; Tony's daughter: Zonie and Tom Allen; Debra's two children: Rachel Bascombe and Isaac Caudill, great-great-grandchildren: Zonie's two daughters: Alexia and Natalie Allen; Rachel's son, Tristan Bascombe; Isaac's son, Jayden Caudill; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A private service will be held at a later date. Adkins Funeral Home, Enon is assisting Lucille's family with her final wishes.
