Harvey Philip Brown


Harvey Philip Brown, 69, of Springfield passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 2, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center - East High Campus.

He was born February 1, 1939 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of Orlin and Mina (Schuler) Brown.

Harvey retired from the Wright Patterson Air Force Base with 31 years of service. From 1987-2007 he worked at the Locust Hills Golf Course where he was an avid golfer and had a great passion for the game. He was a huge sports enthusiast and a big follower and supporter of the Southeastern Trojans. Harvey was a longtime member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was very active in the church and served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Janice I. (Arthur) Brown; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Bart Landes of London, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Dan and Stacy Brown of Sunbury, Ohio; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bill Coon of Springfield, Ohio and Patty and Charles Lackey of Chamberburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Ginny Brown of Greencastle, Pennsylvania and Mike and Patti Brown of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and brother-in-law, Ralph Davison of Brookville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nathan, Luke, Hannah and Sam Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jane Davison.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 5242 North River Road, Springfield, Ohio 45502 with Harvey's son, Pastor Dan Brown and Reverend Harold Arthur officiating.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Springfield Regional Cancer Center, 148 West North Street, Springfield, Ohio 45504 or the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
