Helen D. Allen


Helen D. Allen, 87, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, July 26, 2008 in Villa Springfield Care Center.

She was born November 4, 1920 in Floyd County, Georgia, a daughter of George Pickens and Bessie McDermott.

She was a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptsit Church where she was active in the choir and a number of other church organizations. Mrs. Allen loved the Lord and she loved her family and enjoyed special times she shared with them.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Frederick Wood of Springfield, two grandchildren, Fred, Jr. and Felicia, a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Allen and an aunt, Stella McConnell.

Visitation for Mrs. Allen will be Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon in St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held t 12:00 Noon Friday in the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Funeral arrangements are by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
