John Virgil Young


John Virgil Young, 81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday September 5th in Community Hospital. His passing is not good-bye it is, "So long for now". He was born November 2, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio.

We loved this man lord oh so much,
We don't believe he's gone.
But sitting up in heaven with You,
Our precious man named John.

John was much loved by his family and friends. He was blessed with many God given talents such as fishing, cooking, painting, ceramics, woodworking, knitting, sewing, caning and gardening. He touched many lives with his talents and had a special way of making everything taste and look beautiful. He attended Springfield High School, and he was a World War II veteran where he served as Staff Sgt. in the Army-Air Force. He also graduated from Fredericks Hair Academy and worked as a hairdresser for a number of years. He retired from Steel Products after 30 years of service. He was a member of The American Legion Post 6, Union Club, DAV, Amvets Post 25, and VFW 8673. He is survived by the love of his life Clara "Alice" Williamson Young his wife of 57 years. He leaves to cherish his memory five children and spouses: Joni (Mitch) Frey, Chris (Candice) Young, Jay (Kelly) Young, Jon (Missy) Young, and Charlie (Laurie) Nevius, all of Springfield. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Scott Riley, Jodi (Jimmy) Rowland, David-Jay "Rusty" Riley, Joshua Wright, Jarrod Frey, Zach Frey, Taylor Frey, Casey (Nicole) Young, Cyle (Patty) Young, Codie-lyn (Bill) Kahler, Stephanie (Mike) Majeski, Cori Young, Chelsey Young, Jordan Young, Brandee Sparks, Sara Young, Jonathon Young, and sixteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He will also be greatly missed by brother and sister in law Ben and Jane Williamson of Edwardsburg, Michigan and sister-in-law Ann Williamson of Springfield, and special friends Larry and Judy Doyle, George and Evelyn Walters, and Bill Hempker. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Leon Young, Cora Belle (Woods) Young Davidson and Step-father Rev. George Davidson, in-laws Bertha and Sampson "Dewey" Williamson, sisters Myra Smith, Mary Leeth, Edna Holloway, Betty Houseman and brother Everet (Red) Young, and a great grand daughter Peace A. Young.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be 11am Monday, September 10, 2007 with Grandson Pastor Cyle C. Young will be officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Donations can be made, in John's honor, to the Peace Bear Foundation at 1731 E. Main, Springfield, OH 45503 in memory of his great granddaughter Peace.
