Verna Mae Wellman


Verna Mae Wellman, 82, born December 13, 1924, died in Community Hospital at 3:32 AM on October 16, 2007.

She was surrounded by her loved ones and is now at rest.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Rosa and George Hardwick, brothers Ray, George Walter, Delbert and Scott Hardwick, sister Belva Vinson, husband of 58 years Ernest Wellman, and daughter Virginia Tackett.

She is survived by sisters Wilma Frazier and Beatrice Hardwick, brothers Jim and Colonel Hardwick, sons: James Wellman and wife Mary, Richard Wellman and wife Melanie Garvin, Curtis Wellman and son in law Steve Tackett, daughters Roseanne Hawk and husband Pat, Melissa Pence and husband Paul, 14 grand children and 10 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Verna was a loving mother and a very special person that devoted her life to her family. She was a very strong and very giving person always more worried about others than herself and continued that until the end. She will be deeply missed by all that were loved by her.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at Mercy St. John's TCU unit and the nurses at both hospitals that cared for their mother and grandmother as they would their own.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Verna's brother Colonel Hardwick officiating. Friends may visit with the family for two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
