James Leo Walker


James Leo Walker, 81, of Springfield, passed away Monday morning, January 7, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center.

He was born in Summerville, West Virginia on January 11, 1926 the son of the late James E. and Lettitia (McMillion) Walker.

Leo was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 100th Infantry during WWII. He retired from International Harvester in 1982 after over 30 years of service. He was a member of Feeney-Bennett Post 128 American Legion, Middleport, Ohio.

Leo loved spending time working outdoors and going on his deer and turkey hunting trips in Meigs County, Ohio.

He is survived by his four children and spouses, Carol and Jim Allen, Judy and Bob Lanter, Bonnie Dailey, and Terry and Georgia Walker, all of Springfield; three granddaughters, Teresa Wilson, Holly Boggs and Angel Reeves; and eleven great grandchildren including a special great granddaughter, Amanda Kimmel.

He is also survived by a very special sister, Helen Stalder of Springfield and two nephews, Joe Stalder of Springfield and Steven Goff of Odessa, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Lillian L (Krautter) Walker; a brother, Glen Walker; a sister, Louise Goff; a son-in-law, James Junior Dailey; a brother-in-law, Carl Stalder; and a very special granddaughter, Carla Jean (Miller) Kimmel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ravi Khanna and his staff for their 23 years of excellent care.

Leo's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Mark Rucker officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
