Birgitta Mara Valey


Birgitta Mara Valery, 46, passed away at Greene Memorial Hospital on September 19, 2007.

Birgitta was born in Dayton on September 3, 1961, to Valentin Alexander and Grace Adeline (Dillahunt) Valey. She was a 1980 graduate of Yellow Springs High School and also a 1988 graduate from Wright State University where she received her bachelor's degree. Birgitta was a 37 year resident of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and was known for her free spirit and for being well immersed in the Yellow Springs community. Birgitta enjoyed time with her family and friends and the pursuit of her long time interests in art, photography, horseback riding, and caring for her pets. She also was an advocate for the rights of those with disabilities.

Birgitta is preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Steven Craig Valey. She is survived by 3 brothers, Curtis and Annette of Springfield, Ohio, Kenneth of Galesburg, Illinois, and Wayne of Superior, Colorado; 3 sisters, Carolyn of Burr Ridge, Illinois, Mara Lyn of Santa Cruz, California, and Ingrid of Moorestown, New Jersey; aunt, Mara Santamaria of New York City; 5 nieces and nephews, Anthony, Tonya, Daniel, Nicholas, and Elliot; 9 cousins, Karen, Mark, Brian, Julie, Tyler, Margaret, Dennis, Mary Lou, and Dolly Dillahunt; Close friends, Isabelle, Anna Arbor, and Alice McKinney; and numerous other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 from 5-8 PM at JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 322 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs, Ohio. A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 7 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Yellow Springs, Ohio.
