Ralph E. "Gene" Shelton


Ralph E. "Gene" Shelton, 72, of South Vienna, died Tuesday April 3, 2007 in Good Shepherd Village. He was born July 29, 1934 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Martha (Wilson) Shelton.

Ralph served his country with the United States Army. He retired from Robins and Myers in 1989 after 34 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

Survivors included his loving wife of fifty-two years, Catherine (Hall) Shelton; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Greg Powell of South Vienna; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joann and Bud Brown of Columbus, Darlene and Sam Swisshelm of Springfield; brother, Steve and Patty Shelton of Springfield; two grandchildren, Ashley Powell and Trenity Powell and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janis.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday April 7, 2007, with The Rev. Carol Gesalman of Fifth Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Vernon-Asbury Cemetery.
