Harold Charles Skeen


Harold Charles Skeen, 76, of Springfield, died, on Thursday, November 20, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center - East High St. Campus. He was born on April 21, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Port L. & Myrta Skeen.

He graduated from Plattsburg High School class of 1951 and later from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute in 1960. Harold served the US Navy in the Korean War. He was a member of the Springfield Township No 1 Fire Department as a volunteer for 30 years and 15 years as chief.

His travels took him around the world three times. He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, and held a private pilot license. Harold retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and worked for the 4950th test wing engineering.

He is survived by one daughter, Gina Unangst of Noonan, Georgia; three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Angie Smith of La Grange, Georgia, Chuck and Pixie Smith of Peach Tree City Georgia, and Doug & Tressa Smith of Xenia, Ohio; One twin brother and sister in law, Jarold and Barb Skeen of Champaign County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise.

There will be no public calling hours or services, his ashes will be spread on the grounds of the Old Springfield Township No 1 Fire Station in Beatty.

The family is being served by the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY.
