Gary Edwin Stevenson


Gary Edwin Stevenson, 65, passed away at 4:36 a.m. Monday December 29, 2008 after a courageous 20 year battle with illness. Gary was born on February 7, 1943, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Margretta (Baldwin) Stevenson.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Elaine (Baumgardner) Stevenson.

Upon graduation from Northeastern High School, Gary became an active part of the third generation managing the family business, H.S. Stevenson and Sons. Gary was past president of the Dayton Heating & Air Conditioning Association. He was also active in the Springfield Jaycees, Cub Scouts, YMCA Indian Guides, Northeastern Jets Boosters, Shawnee Braves Boosters, Anthony Lodge No 0455 of the F. & A.M. and High Street United Methodist Church.

Gary is survived by his loving children; Jon Ralph and Jill Stevenson of Columbus, OH, Gary Michael and Dana Stevenson, of Raleigh, NC, and Kristin Elaine and Gerry Grogan of Centerville, OH; six beautiful grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Ashley Elaine and Adam Edwin Stevenson, Madeline Belle and Emily Kate Stevenson, and Kelly Elaine and Sarah Kristin Grogan. Surviving relatives also include: mother and father in-law Ralph and Eunice (Zinn) Baumgardner of Springfield, OH, in-laws, JoAnn and Bill Stapleton, of Springfield, OH, Kay Baumgardner of Alabama, Lola Stevenson of Springfield, OH, John and Cathy Baumgardner of New Carlisle, OH, maternal aunt Edna and uncle Emil Eshenfelder of Columbus, OH, paternal aunt Louise Smith, paternal uncles Carl and Jean Stevenson of Sebring FL, Harold and Phyllis Stevenson of Springfield, OH and Paul Berry of Springfield, OH, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Margretta and Ralph Stevenson, brother, R. David Stevenson, paternal grandparents Homer and Mabel (Folke) Stevenson and maternal grandparents, Forrest E. and Evelyn (Yeazell) Baldwin.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday January 2nd, at Conroy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at High Street United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3rd with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the GARY EDWIN STEVENSON MEMORIAL FUND c/o of the Springfield Foundation 4 W.
