George F. Snyder


George F. Snyder, 77, of Springfield, was peacefully taken by the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2008, and reunited with his wife of 49 years, Barbara A. (Bucy) Snyder, who preceded him in death in 2000. He was surrounded by his family when the Lord took him to his everlasting home in Heaven.

He was born February 2, 1931, in Ross County, OH. the son of Willie and Emma (Seymour) Snyder.

George was a meat cutter and retired from Howard's Foods. He greatly loved hunting, fishing, and playing golf, and was a big sports fan who often shared his knowledge of baseball in Little Leagues throughout the area. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6 and the Order of the Odd Fellows Lodge #33. He was a loving and caring man who reached out to anyone who needed help and guidance.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Snyder, a daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Donald White, two brothers Herman and David Snyder.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Vicky Snyder of South Vienna, Mark Snyder of Springfield; two daughters and sons-in-law Robin and Mark Morris, Melissa and Robert Schultz, Sr. all of Springfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jody Cryder of Jackson, OH., and Nellie and Harry Oyer of Chillicothe, OH., six brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Linda Snyder of Kingston, OH., Bob and Verla Snyder of Waverly, OH., Glen and Marion Snyder of Chillicothe, Bill and Rose Snyder of Hallsville, OH., Ronnie and Ruth Snyder of Circleville, OH. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren Brandon, Lindsey, Victor, Brittney, Megan, Troy, Danny, Brian, Donald, Shane, Heather and Robert Jr.; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and special friends.

Many thanks goes out to the nursing staff of the 4th floor ICU unit of Mercy Hospital with special thanks and gratitude to Kim, Jeanne, and Charlotte who helped make George's final days with us calm and peaceful.

A special memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6 pm at RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR Memorial Home with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 4-6 pm.
