Frank W. Skabla


Frank W. Skabla, 75, of Springfield, died at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 in Community Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio to Nicholas and Mary Margaret (Boswell) Skabla. He worked as a machinist and assembler for R & M for 34½ years, retiring in 1997. He was a 1951 graduate of Springfield High School, a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean war, a member of the Liedertafel, V.F.W. 1031, Moose Lodge, Union Club, American Legion 615 in Waynesville and R & M Retirees.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra (Kennedy); four children and spouses, William K. (Roxann) Skabla, Newport News, Virginia, Eric A. (Kimberly) Skabla, Springfield, Marlene Jo (Ramon) Brewington, Waynesville and Arlene Joellen (Skabla) Carpenter, Springfield; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey A., Frank W. II and Samuel E. Skabla, Sheena M. Valle, Kelsi L. and Lydia K. Skabla and Raymond G. and StevieRay Brewington; one great grandson, Kaleb A. Valle; two brothers and spouse, Robert (Pat) Skabla and Albert "Tiny" (Shirley) Skabla; one sister-in-law, Mary Kay Colvin; uncle, Raymond (Pat) Boswell; nieces and nephews, Vincent Skabla, Stacey (Brenda) Cantrell, David (Diane) West, Brandon (Denise) Wethers, Tony Redmond and Katherine (Todd) Baldridge; a number of family members from the Kennedy side; numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends galore. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Norman and a nephew, Nick Skabla.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Committal service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Lutz officiating.
