Donald G. (Uncle Don) Smith

Donald G. "Uncle Don" Smith, 72, died from lung cancer on August 7, 2007.

Don was a retired carpenter. He was an avid bowler, on many Columbus leagues, mostly at East Side alleys, especially Holiday Lanes. His passion was fishing, mostly for crappies at Hoover Reservoir.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years Donna J; daughters Christina (Dan) Belcher and Janice Jackson; grandchildren Drew, Carly, Emma, John, and Kate; one sister Helen Krahn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice in Springfield, Ohio. The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindness shown by Hospice and the staff on the 4th floor at Community Hospital.
