Carl Edward Summers


Carl Edward Summers, 70, of Springfield, passed away at 10:00 AM Monday, February 18, 2008 in Essex of Springfield.

He was born December 3, 1937 in Springfield, the son of Raymond and Nellie (Horner) Summers.

Mr. Summers was a volunteer for the Salvation Army for many years and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He had been employed at William Bailey for over 10 years.

Survivors include three brothers; Clifford Summers, Raymond Summers Jr. and Donald Summers all of Springfield, one sister Carolyn (Jim) Flora, Rotonda West, Florida, many nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews and close friends Bernice DeLong and Ed Corns.

He was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd and Gerald, sister Inez Murnahan and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Carl's family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff at Essex for all of their kindness and loving care.
