Arthur Allen Spriggs


Arthur Allen Spriggs, 67, was born May 9, 1940 and passed to his new life April 3, 2008 in the presence of his closest family members.

Allen was preceded in death by father Clyde A. Spriggs, mother Ruth I. Brown, brother Don Spriggs, and sister Doris Stevens.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Emily Evans Spriggs; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Eric Herzog; son and daughter-in-law Kris and Elise Spriggs; son Kevin Spriggs and friend Lori Kellermeyer; granddaughters Olivia and Meredith Herzog, Sophia, Claire and Stella Spriggs, Eden Spriggs and Isabelle Mensink; sister Carol (Paul) Coyan; brother Ed (Carol) Spriggs; in-laws, Loretta (Dave) Heigle, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was born in Jackson, OH and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Allen was a barber and retired employee of International Harvester. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he was an active Elder; member of Northridge Lions Club, the Modtiques Car Club, Michael L. Finnell Masonic Lodge #711, and American Legion Post #0787, he was a zealous supporter of Kenton Ridge Athletics, receiving the Cougar Merritt Award in 1996. Allen was well known for his role as Cougar Grill Master.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and spoiling his granddaughters. Allen and Emily traveled to all 50 states. He found joy in gardening, covered bridges, old cars, western movies, NASCAR and random acts of kindness.

Family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday April 6, 2008 at the Northminster Presbyterian Church 400 Villa Rd. Springfield, OH. A celebration of life service will be held at 4 PM with the Reverends Dwight McCormick and Virginia Carlisle officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church or the Kenton Ridge Athletics Boosters Club, 4444 Middle Urbana Road, Springfield, OH 45503.
