James G. Ragan


James G. Ragan, 86, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008 in Ridgewood Nursing Home after a long illness.

He was born on November 28, 1922 in Wheelersburg, Ohio to Welby and Gertrude (Morton) Ragan. He had worked as an airplane mechanic for Wright Patterson Air Force Base for over 35 years retiring in 1976. He was a United States Army-Air Corp. veteran having served in World War II and was a member of Northwood Hills Country Club.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lois C. (Veenman); one son, Ron Ragan, Oviedo, Florida; one daughter, Donna Ragan, Loveland, Ohio; four step-children and spouses, Shirley (Mel) Campbell, Illinois, Jackie Weaver, Springfield, Lori (Mike) Lanier, Wisconsin and Tim Waha, Ohio; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Hubbell, Michigan, Helen Marlow, California; one brother, Robert (Cathy) Ragan, Washington and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Dan Powell officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association or to your favorite charity.
