Clyde E. Rutan


Clyde E. Rutan, 82, of Springfield, died 8:05 a.m. Saturday December 29, 2007 in Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, NC.

He was born August 2, 1925 in Gallia County, OH to Clyde H. and Mabel Mae (Balch) Rutan.

Clyde retired in 1988 from SPECO Corporation after 23 years of service. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Post 1031, Fielding Lodge # 192 F. & A.M., active leader with the Boy Scouts, Master Skipper with the Sea Scouts, avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fisher and was a WW 2 U.S. Navy Veteran.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joann (Gunderman); a daughter and son in law, Michele and Jeff Wells,Waxhaw, N.C.; 2 grandchildren, Nicholas and Kelsey Wells; a brother, Irvine (Elaine) Rutan, Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Walter, preceded him in death.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Powell of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
