Bishop Charles Richard (Dickie) Robinson


Bishop Charles Richard "Dickie" Robinson, 71 of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 1, 2007 in Community Hospital.

He was born July 8, 1936 in Springfield, Ohio a son of David and Mamie (Burks) Robinson. Throughout his life he was a leader in the Springfield community.

Dickie, as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, graduated from Springfield High School. He retired from Navistar International Truck and Engine Company after 34 years of service. Bishop Robinson was the pastor and founder of Christ Community Fellowship Church. He was appointed Bishop Diocese of the State of Ohio in 1984 and served on the Board of Bishops of the First Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. He was very active in many civic and religious organizations. He was the founder and executive director of the Springfield Community Track Club, coached Pee Wee Football and was a member of the Springfield Sports Club. Dickie was active in politics and served on many political committees including the committee for the Honorable Clarence J. Brown for Governor, the committee for State Senator Hobson for Senate, committee for Mike DeWine for Congress and many other committees. He received numerous awards for outstanding service and was honored at the city , state and national levels.

Bishop Robinson leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife; Iva Jeannette Robinson, his loving children; Keith, Kevin, Kim, Micah, Shellyn, Iva La'Shawn "Shawnna", and Chad, a brother; Gordon Jones, 10 grandchildren, and a number of great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son; Charles R. "Ricky" Robinson.

Visitation for Bishop Robinson will be Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 1-6 p.m. in Greater Grace Temple with the family present from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. in the church with Dr. Johnny James officiating. Burial Friday at 9 a.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
