Harley R. Potts, Jr.


Harley R. Potts, Jr., 77, of Springfield, passed away at 10:05 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in his residence.

He was born August 4, 1929 in Springfield the son of Harley R. and Gladys (Young) Potts Sr.

Mr. Potts was a life member and former quarter master of the VFW #3660 He was also a member of the Eagles , the Union Club and the DAV. He was retried from WPAFB following 38 years of service and was a Veteran of the Navy serving during W.W. II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 56 and ½ years Treva (Stevens) Potts, five children: Deborah L. ( Richard) Potts, Zephyr Hills, Florida, Steven E. Potts, Ft. Worth, Texas, Sandra (William) Harris, Rebecca (Garland) Johnson, all of Springfield, and James Potts , Urbana, nine grand sons: John Harford, Jason(Debbie) Potts, Michael Potts, Ronald Potts, Ty Bowman, Andrew Potts, Brian Potts, Eric Potts and Zachary Potts, three grand daughters Stephanie Harford, Shelli Bowman and Jennifer Potts, two step grand daughters Meagan and Brandi Harris, three step great grandchildren, one brother William L. Potts, three sisters Wilma Morris, Norma Coleman and Marilyn (David) Dixon all of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Ronald L. Potts, a sister Joann Shivley and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday in the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Plattsburg Cemetery.
