Wanda Jean Niday

Wanda Jean Niday, 78, left this life to continue her journey on October 25, 2007, surrounded by loved ones and friends.

She was born February 7, 1929 to Robert and Marie (Eblin) Niday. She dedicated her life to taking care of the elderly and many children. The legacy she leaves behind is love and acceptance. She always said "We are all more alike than different". She had many special gifts such as remolding, painting and tinkering in the yard. She was truly the "Jill" of all trades. She managed the restaurant of Springfield Auction for 20+ years. Her special interests were going to church, bingo and Elderly United where she made many friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmal, great grandma, nana, sister and friend. She was truly a gift and a blessing to all of us.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted daughter Wilda "Willie" Stone and son in law Robert Stone, brother Robert K. Niday and Jane, grand daughter Cindy Nance and Dustin, great granddaughter Courtnee Stone, and devoted family Maria and Georgie Britz, grand son Rick Niday and Lisa, extended children: Bobby Lipker and Mary, John Carden and Jackie, Sharon "Charlie" Miller and Dick, Pam Robinson and Bill. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Gina Niday, infant grandson, sister Shirlene, brother Wyatt Gilbert, brother Charles G. Niday, and sister Jeanette Preston. "Christ shall be magnified in my body whether it be by life or by death." Philippians 1:20.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 29, in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Warren Banks officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the services. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Joint Cemetery, Champaign County. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Animal Welfare League, Trinity Missionary Church or Elderly United. Trinity Missionary Church will receive family and friends following the services.
