Barton Nathaniel Laywell


Barton Nathaniel Laywell, age 41, went to be with the Lord June 12, 2007 after a year of faililng health.

Barton was born June 11, 1966 the fifth of thirteen children to David and Marvis (Rambo) Laywell. Barton was a blood washed member of the Church of God and worshiped with the congregation at Possum Road Church of God where he was involved in Sunday School and many church functions. Although he was bound to a wheelchair, he never failed to greet his church family with a warm handshake and smile. Bart will be fondly remembered for his faithfulness in the face of adversity. Barton attended Greenon Schools and was a graduate of Springfield South High School and Wright State University. Barton had served as a board member for Metropolitan Housing for five years. He loved working with the Boy Scouts.

Barton is survived by his parents. Also by six sisters: Melody Laywell, Joy (Mike) Dalton, Robin (Jerry) Rude, Wren (Dennis) Clevenger, april Laywell all of Springfield and Rose (David) Ladines of Spokane, Washington, five brothers: David (Becky), Thaddaeus, Kash (Ruth), Calvin(Becky), Shane (Karen) all of Springfield. He is also survived by his sister in law Tia Laywell, thirty nieces and nephews and one great niece. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and his youngest borther Aaron Laywell.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM Friday in the Possum Road Church of God, 1601 West Possum Road, Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday in the church with Brother Mike Hufford officiating. Additional visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Newcomers Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
