Carl W. Kushmaul, Sr.


Carl W. Kushmaul, Sr., 77, of Springfield, died Saturday morning, November 10, 2007 in Heartland of Springfield following a lengthy illness. He was born in Springfield on November 7, 1930 the son of the late George and Ruth (Poole) Kushmaul.

Carl retired from International Truck & Engine following 18 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 8673 Rocco-Welch and was an avid fisherman and woodworker.

Carl is survived by his wife, Martha M. (Ollech) whom he married on July 7, 1954; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla J. and Randy Canales of Huber Heights; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Carl W. "Wes" and Barbara Kushmaul of Fairborn and Robert L. Kushmaul (Starla Hart) of Huber Heights; four grandchildren, Michael Siefert, Michelle Kushmaul, and Brianna and Braydon Teach; and two step-great grandchildren, Aubrey Teach Nevaeh Mustard. Also surviving are four brothers, Frank (Rosemary) Kushmaul of Springfield, Thomas (Jan) Kushmaul of Springfield, Ronald (Linda) Kushmaul of Columbus, and William (Carol) Kushmaul of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Hill and Viola Berry; a brother, George Kushmaul; and an infant son, Michael F.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Chris Tannreuther officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3131 S. Dixie Dr., Dayton, Ohio.
