John P. "Pat" Hayes


John P. "Pat" Hayes, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 4:00 AM Thursday, October 4, 2007 in his residence.

He was born September 17, 1919 in Springfield the son of Ralph and Margaret (Kenney) Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a Veteran of the United States Army during W.W. II where he served with the 44 th and 106 th Infantry Division and was a P.O. W. in Germany. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and three bronze stars. Pat was a 1938 graduate of Catholic Central High School and was retired from Robbins and Myers.

Survivors include three step children: Dennis Cooley, Denise Cooley and Bonita Hubbard all of Springfield, numerous grand children and great grand children, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Nelma Jane Hayes November 4, 2004, a brother Joseph Hayes and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
