Jack R. Hagen


Jack R. Hagen, 79 of Springfield passed away Saturday morning, October 13, 2007 in the Glen Forest Health Campus due to complications of Parkinson's disease.

He was born November 6, 1927 in Aurburn, Washington, the son of Walton and Pearl (Huseby) Hagen. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. After serving in the Navy, Jack attended Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington and graduated from Oregon State, Corvalis, Oregon in 1950 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jack was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. After graduating from Oregon State College, Jack worked for Bonneville Power Administration for two years. In 1953, Jack joined the Cascade Corporation, Portland, Oregon and was transferred to Springfield, Ohio in 1959 as the first Plant Manager, retiring in 1992. In Jack's working years he was on the board of directors of the Springfield's Chamber of Commerce, board member at TAC Industries, member of the Rotary Club, board member of Society Bank and chairman of the board of Community Hospital in 1983 and 1984.

Jack is survived by his wife Gloria of 57 years; three children, James of Denver, Colorado, Patricia (David) Kerr of Seattle, Washington and Scott of Springfield; grandson, Simon Kerr of Seattle, Washington and special family friends, Daniel Bennett and Teresa Magill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roy and Earl.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 4-6 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A private graveside service will held at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to thank all of the health care personnel at Forest Glen Health Campus for the loving care given to Jack for the past few months. They became our family during this difficult time. Thanks also to Dr. Robert Kneisley for his diligence in Jack's care. Memorials to Jack can be sent to Central Ohio Parkinson's Association, 1380 Dublin Road, P.O.
