Genevieve M. Hannah


Genevieve M. Hannah, 90, of Springfield and formerly of Lakewood, CA died at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Heartland of Springfield.

She was born June 18, 1917 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Leo and Clara (Odewald) Glowenkie. She retired in 1974 from the Northrop Corporation after twenty years of service. She is a member of St. Teresa Church and a former member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church for forty years where she was very active in the Rosary Altar Society and also visiting the parishioners who were home bound. Genevieve's hobbies included working in her rose garden, reading and baking. She also enjoyed traveling quite extensively and the highlight of her travels was meeting and shaking hands with Pope John Paul II.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Patricia and James Dingeldein of Springfield; granddaughter and spouse Dawn and James Skeans, three great grandchildren Brandon, James E. and Matthew Skeans; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Marietta Marich, Huston, TX and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. in 1967, son Richard R. in 1997, three brothers Gilbert, James and Bernard.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Teresa Church. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
