John R. Goodfellow


John R. Goodfellow, 89, of Springfield passed away August 22, 2007 in Community Hospital.

He was born September 19, 1917 to Leonard and Ruth (Hodge) Goodfellow in Clark Co. He was a life long farmer, had served on the Board of Directors for Landmark and Ohio Cattleman's Association. John was also a member of the Farmers Bureau Council and a member of Plattsburg United Church of Christ for over 60 years. He was very interested in sports such as golfing and fishing and supported local schools for over 30 years as a time keeper for basketball and football at Plattsburg and Northeastern High schools.

He is survived by his wife Bernice (Amlin) Goodfellow; children, Anna Ruth (Stan) Runyan, Nancy (Peter) Nathaniel and Jim (Sue) Goodfellow; step-daughter, Debra Amlin Bell; grandchildren, Scott (Debbie) Runyan, Kyle (Amie) Runyan, Bret (Meredith) Nathaniel, Todd (Kelly) Nathaniel, Kris Goodfellow, Lance (Sharon) Goodfellow, Ryan (Erin) Goodfellow; great grandchildren, Travis, Colin, Brendley, Crosby, Emery, Bennett, Lily, Lucas, Sierra; sister, Phoebe Dunham; sisters-in-law, Frances Goodfellow and Marilyn Goodfellow; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty (Bumgardner) Goodfellow; infant daughter, Janet Sue; brothers, William and Gene Goodfellow; brother-in-law, Eldon Dunham; brother & sister-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Bumgardner; step son, Jim Amlin.

Visitation will be held 2pm-5pm Sunday August 26, 2007 in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS Funeral Home, Springfield. Service will be 10am Monday August 27, 2007, with 1 hour viewing prior, in the Plattsburg United Church of Christ with Rev. Glennyce Grindstaff officiating. Interment to follow in South Vienna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Plattsburg United Church of Christ Memorial Fund 1715 S. Urbana-Lisbon South Charleston, OH 45368.
