George "Bud" William Grieser


George "Bud" William Grieser, loving father and grandfather departed this life on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio on June 29, 1918, the son of George J. and Elizabeth K. (Schwartz), Grieser.

He graduated from Springfield High School and attended Wittenberg University. He was employed as a foreman for Robbins and Myers Manufacturing for 40 years. Upon retirement, he chose to become a sales associate for Eagle Realty.

He was a member of the Elderly United and Oakland Presbyterian Church where he was a former trustee and deacon. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie #397, Liedertafel and the R&M Foreman's Club.

He married his beloved wife, Betty, on July 13, 1940 and enjoyed 58 years of wonderful moments and memories. His favorite past times included ballroom dancing and watching his daughter and grandchildren play sports. He was a dedicated Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes sports fan all of his life.

Survivors include his daughter Cherryl L (Jerald E.) Free, of New Carlisle; two grandsons, Douglas S. (Patty) Free, of Springfield, and Shawn M. (Tanya) Free, of Enon; step great-grandson Zachary Hess, of Springfield, as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Sauerbeck) Grieser and two sisters; Gertrude Campbell and Martha Geron.

Friends may call from 2 to 5pm Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the JACKSON LYTLE & WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 2425 N. Limestone St. Where funeral service will be held 10am Monday, July 16, 2007; with Rev. William Blain Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. PO Box 17279 Baltimore, MD 21203-7279 or charity of choice.
