Forrest C. Gall


Forrest C. Gall, 87, of Springfield, died Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Campus.

He was born in Milford Center, Ohio on September 3, 1921 the son of Forest C. and Dora Mae (Ackley) Gaul.

He was a graduate of Springfield High School. He worked at several jobs until, in 1941, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. Forrest served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps having been stationed with the Mighty 8th Air Force in Warton, England. He later served with the 9th Air Force during the liberation of France. He was employed at Thompson Grinder for 25 years and later retired from Meek's Sporting Goods after 12 years of service. Forrest was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, Vandalia and was a member and past-president of the Clark County Sportsmen's Club. He shot trap all over Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as in the Grand.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Carole L. (Heape) Gall; three step-sons and a step-daughter, Craig (Andi) Carter, Jeff (Debra) Carter, Blaine (Robin) Carter, and Jenny (Sean E.) Hartman; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are two nieces, Catherine Moore and Wilma Matthews; a nephew, Melvin Hise; grand nieces and nephews, Larry Jr., David, Joe, Michael, Billy, Patty, Teresa, Michelle, Sherry, John, Lorraine, Josh, Delona, Malana, and Christina; and a number of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 51 years, Mildred M. Gall; and two brothers, Walter and William Gall.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Forrest's funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Kennaugh officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nurses on 3 East at SRMC, East High Campus as well as Dr. Steven Burks, David Arnold and Ida Luebke.
