Malcolm Douglas Freshour


Malcolm Douglas Freshour, 81, of Springfield passed away Wednesday evening, May 23, 2007 in the Mercy Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 8, 1926 in Waverly, Ohio, the son of Fletcher S. and Laura Bell (Murphy) Freshour.

Malcolm was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served our country proudly during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Ohio Edison, Mad River Plant after 40 years of service. Malcolm enjoyed working hard in his orchard after his retirement. He helped with pioneering and construction of several new churches and also served as trustee for numerous churches. Malcolm was a Mason for over 50 years and was a member of Victory Temple in Fairborn.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lenora (McCormick) Freshour of Springfield; one brother, Stanley Fletcher Freshour of DeGraff, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Rader of Springfield and Margaret Brockway of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sistes, Gertrude Adkins, Edith Foss, Lillian Mowell, Virginia Snyder and Ada Satterfield; and one brother, Clyde Freshour.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Walden of Victory Temple officiating.

Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Victory Temple, 2443 Valle Greene Drive, Fairborn, Ohio 45324.
