Jane Marie Foster


Jane Marie (Vogelbein) Foster, 86, of Springfield, died Tuesday morning, October 14, 2008 in her residence following several years of failing health.

She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 2, 1922 the daughter of the late Henry and Jessie (Clifford) Vogelbein.

Jane lived a very happy, rewarding and complete life as a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid Bridge player, and played regularly at the Springfield Women's Town Club with her many friends. She also enjoyed square dancing, bird watching, and caring for the family dogs and cats. She and her husband, Bill frequently traveled around the country, especially to Florida in the winter months, and West coast destinations visiting relatives. She was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 62½ years, Dr. William H. Foster; their children and spouses, Roger and Marlena Foster of Enon and Barbara and William Banks of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Benjamin Foster, Billy Banks, Brett Banks, and Sarah Foster; and a sister-in-law, Martha Atkinson of Dayton. Also surviving is a niece, Amy Atkinson Hogan of Dayton; nephews, Greg Atkinson and Roger Atkinson, both of Dayton; cousins, Ramona (Victor) Lehenbauer of Nevada, Helen Powers of Connecticut, and Pat Olszewski, Vera Candelario, and Mary Lee Massey, all of St. Louis, Missouri.

Jane's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Oakland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
