Helen L. Ellis


Helen L. Ellis, 96, of Springfield, passed away at 9:50 PM Thursday, May 31, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center.

She was born October 9, 1910 in Springfield, the daughter of Chalso and Catherine Welker.

Mrs. Ellis was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was a retired registered nurse having worked in the Old Community Hospital and the T. B. Sanitarium.

Survivors include nine grandchildren: Sandra (Gary) Fenton, Twyla "Sue" (Bill) Maple, Catherine ( Chuck) Arnold, James (Phyllis) Ryder, John Ryder all of Springfield, Frank "Tom" Ryder, St. Paris, Mary (Johnnie) Kibler, Springfield, Joseph (Mary) Ryder, Alabama, and Jean Lewis, Springfield, twenty great grandchildren, twenty six great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild, two nephews Richard (Pat) Petticrew and Donald (Karen) Petticrew all of Michigan, a niece Nancy Petticrew of Springfield and good friend Joyce Fouts, Springfield. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Ellis, a daughter Betty Ryder, a sister Gladys Petticrew, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Friends may call in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME from 6 until 8 PM Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday in St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Paul Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
