James V. Dean, Sr.


James V. Dean, Sr., 84, of Springfield and formerly of Huber Heights, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007 in the Summerville at Fox Run.

He was born June 3, 1922 in Hancock County, Virginia, the son of Henley and Hattie (Dillman) Dean.

He worked at Hadley Furniture Store for twenty-five years and then retired from the SPECO Corporation.

James loved fishing and gardening.

He is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Judy and David Baldwin of South Charleston, Pat Beck of Springfield, Beverly and Gary Knight of New Carlisle, Diane and Frank Campbell of Springfield and Melissa Hemming and Greg Gross of Vandalia; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Beverly Dean of Enon, Charles Dean of Springfield and Robert and Judy Dean of Hillsboro; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, John and Beverly Dean, Frank and Barbara Dean, David and Nettie Dean and Gene and Sharon Dean, all of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma Dean in February of 1999; one daughter, Phyllis Dean; and three grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Cleghorn officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
